Free Shopping Code for Mercari

For $12.00of Shopping Money!! (1)

Hey Guys! Sorry I’ve been slacking on writing posts lately, I’m working on a top secret, super duper cool VIDEO for my next big post. I was really hoping to have it done this weekend but I want it to be perfect, and perfection takes time. I felt bad for not finishing it though, and so I wanted to give you all a little gift!

If you’ve known me for a while, you’ll remember my bout with Yerdle. Yerdle, was (and is) awesome. It used to be an online platform for selling used items. The site would credit you the amount you sold the item for in “Yerdle Dollars” and then you could use those dollars on the site to buy things others were selling. The best things were that the buyer paid for shipping, and the app would send you the shipping label to print and tape to your box, prepaid. So other than packing supplies, you didn’t have to pay for anything at the post office. Also, because you aren’t using real money to buy or sell items, you are literally shopping for free (apart from shipping).

Then some interesting things happen and Yerdle evolved. Brands like Levi’s and Patagonia began selling on Yerdle, in Yerdle dollars. They were selling their items that didn’t do so well in stores, for marked down prices. So if you sold enough of your old stuff on there, you could buy a brand new pair of Levis for just the cost of shipping! Pretty cool, right? I’m not sure exactly when it happened but Yerdle became a kind of vehicle for brands to find and rebuy their clothing. They now offer the technology and logistics to companies wishing to hop in on the resale train. Their site says, “increasing profits, deepening customer engagement, and lowering the environmental and social cost of the stuff we buy.”

As cool as that is, I missed the old Yerdle for us small folk. I missed the eCommerce community that had gathered there and the sweet deals. When BOOM, out of nowhere pops up Mercari.

“We believe the world needs a place where people can exchange their loved goods. That’s why we built Mercari—to connect people who want to buy and sell things of emotional value through their mobile phones. Mercari has grown to become a leading community-powered marketplace that brings together millions of people every day.”

At over 20 Million downloads, an A+ from the Better Business Bureau, and over 100,000 new items listed daily, Mercari has made up for that empty place in my heart where Yerdle was! And works pretty much the exact same way, except there’s real life money involved! That’s right, you can list your stuff and select the Direct Deposit payout, and have the money transferred right into your bank account. Or, if you choose, it can remain as a credit on the app to be spent only on the items you’d like to buy in the app.
